Wind Trio (2021)

This wind trio tries not to make too much of itself. It exits in four movements:
I. DirgeII. ScherzoIII. AubadeIV. Finale
On the whole, the work is intentionally light-hearted. In some ways, it imagines an earlier time, both musically and, for its composer, biographically. I completed the dirge on Christmas Eve, 2020. The rest of the trio followed, somewhat delayed by other projects. The scherzo is adapted from a sketch for solo clarinet which I abandoned. An aubade is the song of lovers parting at dawn. The word was first introduced to me by a neighbour; it was their relative’s name.
